Hi everyone,

Much speculation has occurred on the release of 'Gran Tursimo 5' for the PS3 console. Its release has been delayed several times since the release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, which is a scaled up version of a demo GT5. The title was meant to hit the market last Christmas, but has now been pushed forward presumably coinciding with the release of Sony's 3D TVs; in which GT5's creators 'Polyphony Digital' are partners with.

In order to prepare for 3D gaming, you will need a 3D ready TV that supports HDMI and a pair of active shutter 3D glasses. This new technology wont come cheap though, also happened by the fact that many consumers will tend to believe that 3D is only a craze that wont last long.

Is Sony heading in the right direction?, we will have to wait and see...

FIFA 2010 World Cup South Africa

After hours of trying to convince myself that "FIFA 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa" is a worthwhile upgrade to the current FIFA 10 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, i had a reality check and realised that it isn't worthy of its predecessor.

I will give it benefit of the doubt though, having only played the demo version on the PS3 platform.

As a seasoned compainer with the FIFA franchise, the series has improved in leaps and bounds over the last few years, overtaking its arch rivals Pro Evolution for top spot. The most notable improvements were from FIFA 08 to 09 and to some extent from 09 to FIFA 10.

Having played the FIFA EURO 2008 sequel to FIFA 08 previously, it seemed sluggish with players movements and functions "dumbed down".The same can be said of FIFA 2010 World Cup, with the casual gamer in mind it has drastically limited experienced players from showcasing their knowledge of the game.

One thing that has been dramatically been improved is the atmosphere of the crowd, something crucial for a world cup game. EA sports producer Simon Humber stated that "Its the only place that you can play every single national team", a notable plus to this version of the game.

Retailing at the RRP of a full PS3 title, consider the pros and cons before purchasing this one.

In-depth review of God of War 3

Welcome back bloggers!
Today I'm providing a further in-depth review of the game God of War 3 on Playstation 3. Since my last post, I completed the game with much satisfaction. It took approximately 14-18 hours of gameplay to complete the game with every hour being as enjoyable as the hour beforehand.
This game has definitely impressed me with its grahpics, sound, gameplay and story. This game starts off with you (Kratos) atop of Gaia (the 'mother' of the titans) who leads an attack on Olympia. Right from the beginning of the game, you are given challenging battles against various mythical monsters and boss battles aginst the gods themselves. The first boss battle you incur is aginst poseidon; the God of the sea which lasts for about 15 minutes as it is a contiuos battle over several sections.
Other gods you will face in this game include Hades, Apollo, Hermes and Zeus himself. Each battle builds up the suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time and once you defeat one of the gods, a brutal final blow provides that extra satisfaction and makes you feel great after defeating one of the Gods. On top of that, each boss you defeat, you gain a new item which makes you stronger such as when you defeat Apollo, Kratos rips of Apollo's head and from then on, you can use his head to light-up hidden areas and also blind enemies.

After playing this game, graphics from games released a year ago seem dull and unmatched against God of war 3. This game truely shows how amazing high definition can look and not only during FMVs (full motion videos) but also during gameplay. The voiceovers are also to be commended as it really makes you feel like you are in the game and makes this fantasy world seem real.

Once you finish this game the enjoyment does not stop there. An even harder difficulty is unlocked and extra challenges are also unlocked for you to polish your killing skills to become the best Kratos ever! It offers plenty of replayability and hours of fun!

The downside to this game is that it was slightly short in my opinion and also there were a few bugs that need attention. For example when i get hit onto stairs, I get stuck in-mid air and can't move until I'm hit again. However these minors bugs don't make the game any less brilliant! (Nothing a few patches won't fix)

Overall I'd give the game 9.5 out of 10 and would definitely recommend it to any hack'n'slash fans or even those who love greek mythology.

Final Fantasy 13

After almost 20 hours of playing I'm finally up to the third and final disc of Final Fantasy 13 and what can I say. The story is one if the most detailed and intriguing that I have seen in a game in a long while. The game play is what you would expect from the final fantasy series, mixing action, role-playing and strategy, making it an enjoyable game and a must for all final fantasy fans.
If i get a chance to finish it in the next couple of weeks I'll post a more in depth review on all aspects of the game.

Keep posted - Gary
